350 seeds. 60-90 days. Foeniculum vulgare var. azoricum. Tender perennial grown as annual.

 

Florence fennel is a unique vegetable with a licorice flavor. The bulbous lower stem can be thinly sliced for salad or cooked in a stir-fry or soup. Both the fennel leaves and seeds are used to flavor fish.

 

You may choose to build up the soil around the fennel plant after the bulb has formed to keep it blanched. Harvest Florence fennel before it flowers and becomes tough. It is Native to Italy and is also known as Finnochio.

 

Height 30 inches. Spacing 6 inches.

 

Sowing Florence Fennel Seeds:

 

Sow seeds outside in late spring to mid-summer and barely cover seeds. Thin to 6 inches apart. Full Sun.
