500 seeds. Anethum graveolens. Perennial.
'Lemon balm' has lemon-scented leaves that can be used in tea, fresh or dried. I often make it into a soothing tea with grated ginger and honey.
Lemon balm is known to have medicinal properties for high blood pressure as it is calming. Harvest the stems before it flowers and hang them to dry. Cutting the bush back will produce more stems and leaves for a second harvest. Zones 4–9.
Lemon Balm has white flowers that are attractive to beneficial insects. It is a prolific self-sower. Trim the plant after flowering to prevent self-sowing, or let it self-sow to get more plants and transplant them where you wish. When I was a child, I thought that if I rubbed lemon balm on my arms it would repel mosquitoes. It didn't work.
Height 18 inches.
