75 seeds. 60 days. Pisum sativum. Snow Pea. Annual.
'Oregon Sugar Pod II' snow pea has flat, green pods that are best picked when they are around 3 inches long. The pods are great for stir fry because of their flat shape. This poductive snow pea was developed by Dr. James Baggett of Oregon State University. Disease resistant. Open-pollinated.
I like to plant Oregon Sugar Pod II about 5 inches apart in a 3 by 6-foot bed with a trellis through the middle. The plants will grow together, supporting each other. It is a great way to get a lot of peas while shading the soil. Oregon Sugar Pod II is not as sweet as snap peas when eaten raw, but I found myself eating half of our harvest raw with sour cream ranch dip.
Length 30 inches. Starts producing around 20 inches high.
Sowing Pea Seeds:
Soak seeds overnight. Sow in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked. Sow 1/2 to 1 inch deep and 2 inches apart on a trellis or post. Double rows of peas can be planted on a trellis with rows 6 inches apart. Full sun.
