Pepper 'Cayenne Long Red Slim'

55 seeds. 80 days. Capsicum annuum. Tender perennial.

Pepper 'Cayenne Long Red Slim' has 4 to 6-inch, red, thin walled fruits that are easy to dry. They are quite hot at 40,000 Scoville Heat Units and not to be taken lightly. Also known as Cayenne Long Red Thin.

It is very easy to make your own dried hot red peppers with 'Cayenne Long Red Slim' because of its thin skin. Simply thread whole peppers through their tops with a needle and thread and hang to dry. To cook with dried peppers cut them in half, deseed, and crush to add to soups and sauces. The flavor is so much more enhanced and fresh tasting than the crushed dried peppers from the grocery store.

Sowing Peppers Seeds:

Sow seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date, 1/4 inch deep. Transplant the peppers 2 weeks after the last frost date or when there is no hint of frost. Space 15 inches apart. Full sun.
