Tomatillo 'Dr. Wyche's Yellow'

Tomatillo 'Dr. Wyche's Yellow' has yellow fruits that are 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The fruit is enclosed in a paper husk. The fruit can be eaten raw or cooked.  This American heirloom was bred by Dr. John Wyche.

 

Dr. Wyche's Yellow tomatillios make a great blended salsa when mixed with peppers, onions, spices, and tangy cherry tomatoes, such as 'Peacevine Cherry'.  The tomatillos thicken the salsa keeping it from becoming watery. 

 

Space 30 inches.

 

Sowing Tomatillo Seeds:

 

Sow seeds indoors 7 weeks before the last frost date, 1/4 inch deep. Transplant outside 2 weeks after the last frost date. Space 30 inches apart. Full sun.
